Switch VIVO issue tracking from Jira to GitHub tracker

VIVO has up to now used a Jira installation at Cornell for issue tracking, but if the code repository is moved to GitHub the tracker there offers integration features with pull requests, and both code and tracker would be in the same place using the same user accounts. Old Jira issues would still be accessible at Cornell. Other options? DuraSpace will make Jira available to the VIVO incubator project should we wish ...more »

Writing the missing app for CV and biosketch specification

No time estimate. Mike Conlon has written a new python app that works against the University of Florida SPARQL endpoint -- view the recording of his 2/18/14 presentation on Youtube at Through the 2011 Digital Vita mini-grant, VIVO can export all the data for a CV to a library currently hosted at the University of Pittsburgh, which in turn converts the data to rich text or a PDF. The same ...more »

Optimizing VIVO search for local researchers and organizations

Time estimate: 1 week From John Mark Ockerbloom, U Penn When we discussed VIVO with some local researchers, they've expressed strong interest in the search function. Specifically, one of the things some of them very much want is to be able to easily find local researchers and research units, either by name, or by keyword. The out-of-the-box VIVO search could do better at this, in our experience. On name searches, ...more »

Fix searching for names with embedded capital letters

Time Estimate: 3 hours From John Mark Ockerbloom, U Penn -- We've been having problems with our VIVO search not finding certain key faculty members who have capitals in the middle of their names. Examples include "McCluskey", "FitzGerald", and the like, which don't turn up when we type in the name in all-lowercase (a common search pattern) in the main search box. Matching the case in the input string can work, but we ...more »

VIVO Searchlight Chrome/Firefox Plugin

No time estimate

http://vivosearchlight.org/ developed by Miles Worthington is a fantastic tool and won the contest. I propose that this be converted into a plugin for different browsers. Perhaps starting with Firefox or Chrome would be a good place.

Add/Delete RDF using a SPARQL query

No time estimate

The Add/RDF page allows one to add/delete RDF using a local file or via a URL. Since it already has a SPARQL client built in, what if you could specific an endpoint other than the VIVO endpoint (i.e. DbPedia), issue a custom SPARQL query, then rather than display the results, import the RDF into VIVO.
